Steve Young - Founding Partner
Steve has over 23 years of experience working in opportunistic lending, restructuring, and investment banking through various market cycles. He has led the specialty finance company and received national recognition. Steve manages the organization, underwriting, operations, and investor relations.
Prior to founding Prescient Capital, Steve was recruited by Sandler O’Neill & Partners LLP, a leading Wall Street investment banking firm that is focused on middle-market financial institutions. Steve has provided advice to financial institutions who were seeking to improve their margins, return on assets, equity, and overall financial results. In addition to assisting institutions to increase shareholder value, Steve’s experience extends into complex strategies, accounting, and regulatory issues.

Daniel Keck - Partner
Dan is a Partner at Prescient Capital who focuses on the strategic direction, operations, and management of the firm. Prior to Prescient, Dan was a Principal with The Presidio Group, a premier independent financial advisory firm that focuses on Investment Banking, Capital Advisory, and Private Equity. Prior to Presidio, Dan was with Morgan Stanley in various divisions in Chicago, New York, and Philadelphia. Before Morgan Stanley, Dan was a Commander in the U.S. Navy where he served worldwide as a carrier-based F/A-18 pilot and graduated from the United States Navy Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN).
Dan earned his MBA with Honors from The Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania and his BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy.
John Griffin - Lead Counsel
John Griffin is Presicent Capital’s lead legal counsel. John is responsible for forming all loan documents within the jurisdiction of the corresponding state, verifying borrower’s loan obligations, working with borrower attorneys and third parties to ensure the processing of the loan transaction, and assisting with workout situations.
John began his career at Baker Botts where he focused on securities law, corporate law and mergers, and acquisitions. Afterwards, he joined King & Spalding and trained under David Epstien, an esteemed bankruptcy expert. John’s formative years included representing clients such as SunTrust and Anglo-American Financial LLC.
John earned his JD from Columbia University School of Law in 1986 as a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and BA in History from the University of Virginia in 1982 as a Phi Beta Kappa, Echols Scholar.
Bradley Johnston - Vice President of Operations
Brad is the Vice President of Operations at Prescient Capital focusing on loan documentation, investor relations, and general operating activity.
Prior to Prescient, Brad was employed at Tharpe Robbins Company, a developer of recognition programs where he worked with fortune 500 companies such as AEGON Insurance, Rockwell Collins, Kohl’s, and Ray-O-Vac. He managed the Wisconsin Branch through their substantial growth.
Brad had previously owned a real estate company in southeastern Wisconsin that renovated and restored historic lake homes. Brad’s last project converted a Frank Lloyd Wright home into a museum.
Brad attended the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee with focus on business and finance.
Deb Bennett - Client Relations / Business Development / Analyst
Deb is responsible for client relations and working with our valued intermediaries to efficiently complete accurate loan submissions that are presented to our loan committee. Her role extends into analyzing the key ratios of the loan submissions. Additionally, she is responsible for managing our CRM database, allowing the Prescient Capital team to provide excellent customer service to our intermediaries.
Deb’s diverse twenty-five years in retail/service, manufacturing, and health information management have set her client service standards to an extraordinary level. Responding to clients’ needs and building relationships are part of Deb’s top priorities and something she truly enjoys.
In her time away from the office Deb is an active member at her church, and is a leader on many sports/school committees. She enjoys spending time with friends & family, crocheting, reading, golfing and watching her son play soccer, basketball & baseball.
